Asian markets down as inflation fears persist

Most stock market indexes in Asia traded lower on Wednesday amid growing concerns that the central banks will have to further adjust their monetary policy settings in the near future to ensure economic recovery and combat rising inflation.

Japan's Nikkei 225 fell by 1.16% at 4:09 am CET, with Hong Kong's Hang Seng down by 1.01%. The dollar traded 0.11% lower against the yen, going for ¥135.9940 at 4:10 am CET. In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite was 0.13% down at 4:09 am CET, with the Shenzhen Composite losing 0.26% a minute later. At 4:10 am CET, South Korea's Kospi went down by 1.67%, as the Australian S&P 200 lost 1.41%.
