Asian markets lower, Hang Seng drops over 1%

Asian stock market benchmarks were lower on Monday as investors kept watch over several business news stories. Among these, a report that alleged major banks moved suspicious funds between 1999 and 2017, including HSBC, affected trading. In other news, United States President Donald Trump approved the TikTok-Oracle deal.

The Tokyo Stock Exchange was closed for a holiday, while the South Korean Kospi Composite fell 0.86% at 7:25 am CET. Meanwhile, in mainland China, the Shanghai Composite was down 0.47% while the Shenzhen Composite declined 0.46%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng dropped 1.37% at the time as HSBC plunged over 3%. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 lost 0.73% in Sydney.

The dollar was 0.24% lower against the yen, buying ¥104.325 at 7:30 am CET.
