Asian markets mostly lower amid China data

Asian markets traded mostly lower on Wednesday as China released its official economic growth data. The country's GDP increased by 6.4% in the first fiscal quarter, while industrial production was up 8.5% in March and retail sales grew 8.7%.

Japan's Nikkei 225 was up 0.09% at 4:28 am CET. The South Korean Kospi Composite was flat at 4:08 am CET.

The Shanghai Composite declined by 0.15% at 4:27 am CET, while the Shenzhen Composite dropped 0.20% at 4:28 am CET. Hong Kong's Hang Seng fell 0.14% at 4:30 am CET.

The Australian S&P/ASX 200 was down just 0.05% at 4:30 am CET.

The dollar was flat against the yen and sold for ¥111.9740 at 4:32 am CET.
