Asian stocks dip amid virus fears

Major stock market indexes in Asia traded lower on Tuesday as worries about spiking coronavirus numbers seem to be overshadowing optimism regarding vaccinations and with an increase in restrictions also weighing on market sentiment.

On the Chinese mainland, the Shenzhen Composite traded 0.97% lower at 04:14 am CET, with the Shanghai Composite down by 1.04% a mminte later. Hong Kong's Hang Seng lost 1.25% at 4:16 am CET, as South Korea's Kospi Composite dropped by 2.54%.

At 4:19 am CET, the dollar traded 0.19% lower against the yen, going for ¥113.7830, with Australian S&P/ASX 200, down by 2.55% at the same time. Japan's Nikkei 225 lost 2.03% at 3:35 am CET.
