Asian stocks jump on inflation optimism

Markets in Asia-Pacific traded sharply higher in Thursday's afternoon trade, picking up on positive sentiment from Wall Street which rallied following a better-than-expected inflation report.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng surged 1.53% at 7:20 am CET. In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite was up 1.24% at 7:19 am CET and the Shenzhen Composite climbed 1.48% at 7:06 am CET.

In South Korea, the Kospi jumped 1.31% at 7:21 am CET, while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.91% at 7:17 am CET.

Japan's Nikkei 225 was closed for a holiday.

The dollar added 0.21% against the yen to go for 133.176 at 7:22 am CET.
