Asian stocks mixed with focus on earnings

Markets in Asia-Pacific traded mixed in the morning session on Monday as investors geared up for a big earnings week. HSBC is set to report its results later in the day, while Hyundai, Samsung and Sony are among the Asian companies due to publish earnings later this week.

The Nikkei 225 slid 0.98% at 4:00 am CET. The dollar added 0.15% against the yen to go for 113.6485 at the same time.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng traded flat at 4:03 am CET. In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite increased 0.16% at the same time and the Shenzhen Composite was up 0.04%.

In South Korea, the Kospi gained 0.16% at 4:05 am CET after President Moon Jae-in announced the country will soon start returning to normalcy amid high COVID-19 vaccination rates. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.47% at 4:04 am CET.
