Asian stocks mostly lower amid data, earnings

Equities on major stock markets in Asia-Pacific region traded mostly lower on Friday following the release of Japan's retail trade and industrial production data. Taro Aso, head of the Ministry of Finance in Tokyo, stated neither his country nor the United States changed their positions regarding the framework for bilateral trade negotiations. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said that he will host Chinese President Xi Jinping sometime "soon".

Japan's Nikkei 225 was unchanged at 4:20 am CET. The dollar rose just 0.04% against the yen to go for ¥111.6740 at 4:19 am CET.

In China, the Shanghai Composite declined by 0.26% at 4:20 am CET while the Shenzhen Composite dropped 0.41% a minute later. Hong Kong's Hang Seng increased 0.39% at the same time.

The South Korean Kospi Composite dropped 0.56% at 4:02 am CET. The Australian S&P/ASX 200 was up by 0.02% at 4:20 am CET.
