AstraZeneca posts revenue of $6.4B in Q4

The pharmaceutical company on Thursday reported revenue of $6.4 billion in the fourth quarter of 2018, up 11% compared to the same period a year ago. AstraZeneca reported its loss per share of $0.82, a 21% decrease compared to the same quarter in 2017. Meanwhile, its net income amounted to $1 billion, a 21% decrease compared to the fourth quarter of fiscal 2017.

The company also posted its full-year corporate results, reporting revenue of $22 billion, marking a 2% decrease in comparison to 2017. Its loss per share stood at $1.7, down 28% compared to 2017 when it amounted to $2.37. Furthermore, the pharmaceutical corporation's net income stood at $2 billion, nearly 30% down from the year before when it reached $2.8 billion.

CEO Pascal Soriot welcomed the results, saying that in 2019 the company will focus "on continued pipeline delivery and flawless commercial execution," noting that AstraZeneca will be "more agile, collaborative and focused as we enter a period of sustained growth."
