Austin: Xi's visit to Russia is troubling message of support
United States Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin stated Thursday that the latest visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Russia sends a "very troubling message of support."
At a hearing on the President's budget for 2024 in the House Appropriations subcommittee, Austin added that at this moment, the administration doesn't see the Chinese government "providing any material support" to Moscow, but they "are watching this very closely." Moreover, he added that if they decided to do that, it would also be very troubling for the "international community."
Austin agreed with the statement that the China-Russia relationship is a "marriage of convenience" and that China is willing to continue building that relation.
