Australia, Japan sign deals for lower-emissions tech

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and his Japanese counterpart, Yoshihide Suga, have inked a deal with the German government, pledging to join the global effort to minimize pollution and tackle the climate crisis, the two said in a joint statement.

The agreements in question call for the development of technology that would help reduce carbon emissions and achieve "a net-zero emissions" future by the countrys' 2050 deadline.

The deal was announced as a "partnership on decarbonization through technology," with the two promising to "accelerate the development and commercialization of low- and zero-emissions technologies as soon as possible."
