Australia to help tourism with $52M after fires

Australia's tourism sector will receive $52 million (76 million Australian dollars) of initial government assistance due to the recent fires that ravaged the countryside in the past couple of months, it was announced in Canberra on Sunday.

The fires have reportedly killed dozens of millions of animals and at least 28 people.

The Australian Tourism Industry Council estimated that that tourism lost approximately 1 billion Australian dollars so far over the fires, while others see the figure going up four-fold by the end of 2020.
