Baker Hughes: US oil rig count down by 10 to 599
The number of oil rigs in the United States fell by 10, on a weekly basis, to 599 in the week ending February 3, the Baker Hughes rig count data released on Friday revealed. Year over year, oil rigs were up by 102.
The US gas rig count declined by two to 158 during the same week, while it rose by 42 compared to last year. The total number of rigs in the country now stands at 759, down by 12 from last week but jumping by 146 from the previous year.
In Canada, the total rig count stood at 249, increasing by two from last week and by 31 compared to 12 months ago. The number of oil rigs rose by two to 159 and the number of gas rigs was unchanged at 90. On an annual basis, Canada added 23 oil rigs and 8 gas rigs.
