Baker Hughes: US oil rig count up by 1 to 556

The number of oil rigs in the United States stood at 556 in the week ending June 9, increasing by one compared to the previous week, according to the Baker Hughes weekly rig count released on Friday.

The number of US gas rigs landed at 135 during the same week, decreasing by two and bringing the total number of rigs in the country to 695. Compared to the same period a year earlier, the number of oil rigs was down by 24.

In Canada, the total number of rigs climbed by 39 to 136. The number of oil rigs in Canada increased by 34 to 85, while the number of gas rigs rose by 5 to 51. Canada's oil rig count was down by nine from the same period in 2022.
