Barr handling of Mueller report caused public concern - judge

A United States federal judge criticized Attorney General William Barr's handling of the release of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's report for causing a "significant" amount of public concern, according to Politico.

Speaking during a hearing on a Freedom of Information Act suit demanding access to the Mueller report, US District Court Judge Reggie Walton said that Barr "has created an environment that has caused a significant part of the public... to be concerned about whether or not there is full transparency." However, he did not elaborate on which of Barr's actions or statements led to those concerns. Walton also denied a request by BuzzFeed to issue a preliminary injunction that would require the Department of Justice to release the Mueller report by Thursday.

Nevertheless, the DoJ announced on Monday that it would make the Mueller report public and submit it to Congress for further consideration on Thursday. The announcement came after weeks of intense pressure on Barr to release the full report following his findings that there was no evidence that US President Donald Trump colluded with Russia in the run-up to the 2016 election nor that he obstructed justice.
