Bavarian PM sees lockdown extension possibility

Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Soder (pictured) asserted on Wednesday that lockdown measured imposed by the German government could be extended beyond December 2.

"It is also quite possible that the lockdown will be extended. But always with the appropriate help [to businesses]," Soder said.

Germany imposed a one-month partial lockdown on November 2 to stop the spread of COVID-19. However, the country's Economy Minister Peter Altmaier hinted last week the curbs may remain in force for "at least next four or five months" as Germany "can't afford a yo-yo shutdown with the economy constantly opening and closing." Federal and state leaders are expected to decide on further steps in fighting the pandemic on November 25.
