Beijing Olympics tickets will not be sold to public

The Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee announced on Monday that tickets for the event will no longer be sold to the general public. Ticket sales were previously restricted to spectators from the Chinese mainland "who meet the requirements of COVID-19 countermeasures."

However, tickets will no longer be sold due to "the current grave and complicated situation of the COVID-19 pandemic and to ensure the safety of all participants and spectators." Instead, the organizers will put an "adapted program" in place that will "invite groups of spectators to be present on site during the Games." Those with invitations will also be expected to "strictly abide by the COVID-19 countermeasures before, during and after each event as pre-conditions for the safe and sound delivery of the Games."
