Beijing tightens rules on US media in China

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian (pictured) revealed on Wednesday that media outlets from the United States operating in China will be subjected to tighter regulations than before.

Associated Press, United Press International, CBS and National Public Radio will have seven days from today to submit information regarding their staff, finances and other activities in the People's Republic, Zhao announced.

Beijing's move comes after Washington designated four additional Chinese media organizations as "foreign missions," after previously labeling five of them as such.
