Belarus training with Russia 'as one army,' says Lukashenko

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in a meeting with Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu on Saturday said his country's troops are training with the Russian Armed Forces to fend off potential attacks as a "single group, a single army," Interfax reported.

"We are as a single group, we are preparing a united army today," Lukashenko stated. "Everyone around knows about it. We did not hide it. And in the modern world it is impossible to hide it," he added, noting that Minsk is coordinating with Moscow in order to be prepared to "repel any aggression."

Since Russia began its military operation in Ukraine, Belarus has been accused of supporting Moscow in the conflict, and there have been reports that Belarusian forces may be thinking about joining the battle.
