Belgium partly halts use of J&J's COVID vaccine

Belgium suspended on Wednesday the use of Johnson & Johnson's COVID-19 vaccine for people younger than 41 after a woman's death was linked to the jab's adverse effects.

"The Inter-ministerial conference has decided to temporarily administer Janssen's vaccine to the general population from the age of 41 years, pending a more detailed benefit-risk analysis by the EMA," the Health Ministry noted in a statement.

The woman died on May 21 after being diagnosed with severe thrombosis and platelet deficiency which were likely caused by Johnson & Johnson's vaccine.
