Biden admin hopes to make big step forward on climate - report

United States President Joe Biden intends to reestablish America's reputation as a global climate leader at the two-day Climate Leaders Summit on Thursday.

"I think that just being here and knowing that we have an opportunity to actually make what I hope is a pretty big step forward, and almost a step change, it really feels exciting," Politico was told by one White House official, who added that the government expects criticism for either doing too much or for not doing enough.

On his first day in office, the head of state inked 15 executive actions reversing decisions made by his predecessor, including rejoining the Paris Climate Accord after former President Donald Trump withdrew from the agreement in 2017 over worries that Washington's contributions would "undermine" the US economy.
