Biden: Climate change fight needs unprecedented financing

United States President Joe Biden stated during the Leaders Summit on Climate on Thursday that the fight against climate change needs "financing on an unprecedented scale."

Biden stated that it is in the best interest of nations to work together on climate change, and touted the opportunities of clean energy jobs stating they are worth "hundreds of billions of dollars." He also called on the private sector to join the fight, but cautioned saying that "Wall Street needs to make clear steps to avoid potential pitfalls." Biden also announced the International Climate Fund which aims to help developing countries in their green initiatives, adding that the US will double its international climate change financing activities of $100 billion by 2024.

Earlier today, Biden opened the climate summit saying that global economies needed to step up, as the US announced it plans to halve its carbon emissions output by 2030.
