Biden extends congratulations to Erdogan
United States President Joe Biden congratulated his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his re-election.
"I look forward to continuing to work together as NATO [North Atlantic Treaty Organization] Allies on bilateral issues and shared global challenges," Biden tweeted.
Previously, Erdogan declared victory in the presidential election run-off against opposition leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu. Turkey's head of state won 52.16% of votes based on 99.85% of ballot boxes opened and counted.
