Biden: No need for COVID booster shot at moment

United States President Joe Biden said on Thursday that there is no need for people to get a third, booster shot of the coronavirus vaccine at the moment but noted it might be necessary down the line.

"Science hasn’t dictated that yet," Biden told reporters at the White House as he announced the government's new vaccination incentives and requirements. However, for the time being, the president urged Americans to get their COVID-19 shots in order to maintain economic growth which he noted has been accelerating based on recent economic data reports. Specifically, Biden said his administration has been overseeing the fastest jobs growth in the country's history and described US GDP growth over the past six months as "the best in the world."

Finally, Biden said it remains unclear whether the US federal government can legally mandate the whole country to get vaccinated against the virus.
