Biden picks Wendy Sherman for No. 2 State Dept job

United States President-elect Joe Biden announced on Saturday he tapped experienced diplomat Wendy Sherman (pictured) to serve as the country's deputy secretary of State, the No. 2 official of the US State Department.

"I am confident that they will use their diplomatic experience and skill to restore America’s global and moral leadership. America is back," Biden said in a statement.

Sherman previously served as the US under secretary of state for political affairs in the Obama administration, representing the country as the lead negotiator on the nuclear deal with Iran. Biden already nominated Antony Blinken for the new head of the State Department.
