Biden talks to Netanyahu, Abbas as clashes continue

United States President Joe Biden spoke on Saturday to the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas as the hostilities between Israel and Palestine continue. Earlier in the day, the Israeli military destroyed a building in Gaza housing international media outlets. In addition, over 140 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli strikes, Hamas has killed while nine Israelis since the start of the escalation.

Netanyahu's office stated he updated Biden on Israel's plans, thanked him for his support, and "emphasized that Israel is doing everything to avoid harming persons who are uninvolved." Meanwhile, Palestinian media reported Abbas called on Biden to work to put an end to Israeli attacks, and asserted Palestine is ready to work with the Quartet on the Middle East to reach a peaceful solution on an international level. The media added Biden reaffirmed his administration's commitment to a two-state solution and opposition to any unilateral measures, including the forced displacement of Palestinians.
