Biden to impose further COVID travel restrictions - report

United States President Joe Biden is set to reinstate the suspension of entry into the country from the European Union, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Brazil, also expanding the restrictions to cover South Africa, according to NBC News.

The travel ban, first imposed to limit the spread of coronavirus, was lifted by Biden's predecessor, President Donald Trump, who noted he is confident the countries mentioned will cooperate with Washington with regards to a CDC testing order. The order in question, issued January 12, requires a negative coronavirus test or proof of having recovered from the illness and refers to all air passengers arriving in the country from abroad.

Biden is likely to add South Africa to the list due to the nation struggling with a new, more transmittable strain of the virus, which first originated in the country.
