Biden urges Congress to ban assault weapons
United States President Joe Biden renewed the call for Congress to ban assault weapons nationwide following another shooting that left six people, including three children, dead at a Nashville school earlier this week.
"I again call on Congress to pass the assault weapons ban. It should not be a partisan issue, it's a common sense issue. There is a moral price to pay for inaction," Biden shared in a Twitter post, shortly following the White House's post in which it said that "it's time for Congress to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines."
According to the data from the Gun Violence Archive, there have been 130 mass shootings across the US in the first three months of 2023, in which over 400 children lost their lives while nearly a thousand were injured.
