Biden: US companies will have to compete for workers
United States President Joe Biden said his administration plans to ban employers from imposing noncompetes on their workers.
"So a cashier at a burger place can't cross the street to take the same job at another burger place to make a couple bucks more," Biden asked. "Not anymore," he said, promising the companies will from now on have to "compete for workers" and "pay them what they're worth."
Biden made the remarks during his State of the Union address to Congress, a month after the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) proposed to end the often exploitative practice in an effort to increase wages.
