Big Tech to help US fight cyberattacks - CISA head

United States Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Director Jen Easterly revealed on Thursday that Amazon.com Inc., Microsoft Corp., Google LLC and other companies from the tech sector will provide assistance to the agency in its fight against ransomware and cyberattacks.

The initiative to combat cyber threats, known as the Joint Cyber Defense Collaborative, is set to be unveiled later in the day, she told The Wall Street Journal in an interview, adding that the goal of the move is to raise the level of cybersecurity cooperation between the US government and the private sector.

Washington officials and tech companies will specifically discuss potential ways to respond to any future aggression by hackers against government and private cyberinfrastructure, Easterly underlined.
