Bitcoin extends gains, tops $36,000

Cryptocurrencies extended gains on Tuesday as Bitcoin climbed back above $36,000.

The rally came after Mexican billionaire Ricardo Salinas Pliego urged his almost 1 million Twitter followers to buy Bitcoin and announced that his Banco Azteca intends to become the first lender to accept Bitcoin in the country. Furthermore, Craig Wright, who claims to be the founder of the digital currency, reportedly won a court case, forcing bitcoin.org to remove the copy of the Bitcoin white paper from its website.

Bitcoin climbed 5.20% to sell for $36,279.887 at 9:50 am ET. Meanwhile, Bitcoin SV surged 7.64% to $165.41 at the same time.
