Blinken: Russia cannot 'bully' Ukraine with no opposition

United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Monday that Russia cannot be allowed to "bully" Ukraine and not face opposition from the international community, as that would mean an "open season" for the rest of the world. Blinken also noted that it is important to react to the Russian invasion on a global level since it poses a threat to the key principles of the international system.

"If we allow a big country to bully a smaller one, to simply invade it and take its territory, then it's going to be open season, not just in Europe but around the world," he added.

The secretary held a press conference today alongside South Africa's Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor, after which he is set to visit the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda, to conclude his African tour, which is similar to those of French President Emmanuel Macron and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
