Blinken: Serious differences on Iran deal remain

United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Friday that "serious differences" with Iran on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) remain and that Tehran must make good on its obligations under the 2015 nuclear deal in order for an agreement to save it to be reached.

Speaking alongside his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian, Blinken noted that Washington and Tehran will work on overcoming these differences in the coming days but stressed: "We're not there yet."

Earlier, Le Drian urged Iran to "take the final difficult decisions to allow for the revival of the 2015 nuclear deal," while Tehran has stated the deal on JCPOA revival is closer than ever before but pointed out more negotiations are needed on "certain outstanding issues."
