Blinken to visit Ukraine in May as sign of support

United States Department of State announced on Friday that Secretary Antony Blinken will be traveling to Kiev on May 5-6, where he is set to meet with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky and Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.

The main focus of the visit is to "reaffirm unwavering US support for Ukraine's sovereignty" that is allegedly enduring Russia's ongoing offensive demeanor, especially at the border of Eastern Ukraine. Blinken will also encourage continued progress on Ukraine's institutional reforms and the anti-corruption action in particular.

Earlier, the State Department spokesman said the US was deeply concerned by Kiev's decision to replace the management of a leading energy company using a legislative loophole. He described the move as a "disregard for fair and transparent corporate governance practices" that put Ukraine's economic progress at risk.
