Billionaire Jeff Bezos-owned Blue Origin LLC auctioned off a spaceship passenger seat on its first crewed spaceflight for $28 million.

The auction opened at $4.8 million on Saturday and bids quickly surpassed $20 million. "The winning bid amount will be donated to Blue Origin's foundation, Club for the Future, to inspire future generations to pursue careers in STEM and help invent the future of life in space," the company revealed earlier.

Besides Blue Origin staff and the auction winner, the crew will include Jeff Bezos and his brother Mark Bezos. The flight is expected to take place on July 20.
