Boeing 737 MAX starts test flights

The United States Federal Aviation Administration began the test flights for Boeing Co.'s 737 MAX, the regulator said on Monday, confirming earlier reports.

However, the FAA said that this step does not mean the compliance evaluation process is completed and it is not guaranteed that the plane will be returned to service.

"The FAA has not made a decision on return to service. We have a number of steps remaining after the conclusion of the certification flights," the government body said.
