Boeing turns green on reported 737 MAX software upgrade

Shares of American aircraft maker Boeing managed to return to positive territory on Friday after it was reported that the company plans to roll out a software update for its 737 MAX planes in ten days.

The company has suffered steep losses since the crash of its 737 MAX 8 aircraft operated Ethiopian Airlines last weekend, which took the lives of all 157 people aboard. In response to the type's second deadly crash in the last five months, most countries around the world, including Russia and the United States, grounded or banned the use of the 737 MAX in their airspace.

Boeing's shares were trading 0.97% higher at 11:31 am ET to sell for $377, despite opening Friday's session with losses.
