Brazil adds record 1,641 COVID deaths, 59,925 cases

In Brazil, 1,641 fatalities were attributed to the coronavirus over the past 24 hours, which marks the nation's deadliest day since the start of the pandemic, data provided by the country's health ministry showed.

The figure brings the nation's total to 257,361. Meanwhile, the country's caseload reached 10,646,926, as 59,925 new people tested positive for the virus, up from yesterday's 35,742.

During the same time period, the cumulative number of recoveries from the illness increased to a total of 9,527,173, with 862,392 still hospitalized.
