Brazil approves Sinovac, AstraZeneca vaccines for emergency use

The Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (Anvisa) granted on Sunday emergency use authorization for the CoronaVac developed by China's Sinovac, as well as the Oxford/AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine.

The decision came after the Butantan Institute requested the authorization to use 6 million doses of its partner Sinovac's jab and Fiocruz asked for the authorization to use 2 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Earlier, Anvisa returned drugmaker Uniao Quimica’s application for emergency use of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine and asked the company to provide additional data, such as assurances on Phase III clinical trials and vaccine manufacturing issues.
