Breton tells Musk Twitter must abide by EU rules
European Commissioner for the Internal Market Thierry Breton reiterated on Friday that Twitter will have to follow the European Union rules after the company was acquired by Elon Musk.
In response to Musk's tweet that "the bird is freed," Breton insisted that "in Europe, the bird will fly by our EU rules." The EU official also reported a video from May in which Musk is telling him that his views are "aligned with" the bloc's regulations.
Earlier, media outlets reported that Musk completed the acquisition of the social media company and fired CEO Parag Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal and Legal, Policy and Trust Lead Vijaya Gadde. The world's richest man insisted that he decided to buy the company to "help humanity" and ensure free speech.
