Brexit talks are 'not going well' - report

Negotiations on a post-Brexit trade deal between the United Kingdom and the European Union "are not going well," BBC reported on Wednesday, citing EU sources.

According to the report, the EU officials described the current state of Brexit talks as "very serious," asserting that the statement made earlier in the day by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, who noted that whether the talks will yield an accord is unclear, is not a positive development.

After Von der Leyen's speech before the European Parliament, European Commission Vice President Maros Sefcovic referred to Brexit talks as "difficult, but constructive," while British Prime Minister Boris Johnson insisted that the bloc needs to respect UK's right to control its own waters.
