British former NATO chief says UK's security 'at risk'

Former NATO Secretary-General George Robertson (pictured) told Sky News on Monday that Britain's security is "at risk," underscoring that the country's prime minister, Rishi Sunak, has to be "more serious about taking on the likes of Vladimir Putin at this time."

"He [Sunak] is the wartime prime minister. There is a threat to the safety and security of the people who live in the West because of what Vladimir Putin is doing," Robertson said, emphasizing that Sunak "must rise to the occassion."

In response to recent remarks by a US general who reportedly told Britain's Defense Secretary Ben Wallace that the UK's army is no longer regarded as a top-level fighting force, a former head of NATO said, "The fact is that British armed forces might have been weakened recently, but they are still a formidable fighting force."
