Brits consider Johnson strongest candidate for PM - polls

Britons consider Tory MP and the front runner to become the next leader of the Conservative Party Boris Johnson the strongest candidate for the role of the next prime minister, polls published by the Sunday Times and the Sun on Sunday showed.

Meanwhile, a YouGov survey indicated that 47% of the United Kingdom's citizens believe that Johnson will be able to secure a victory in the next parliamentary elections, beating both the Labour Party and the new Brexit Party. In the meantime, only 22% of Britons said they didn't agree with the findings. Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt's success was projected at only 15%. OnePoll survey showed that at least 30% of UK citizens believe Johnson will win since they believe he will have the best chance to secure and implement an orderly Brexit.

Earlier this week, the former mayor of London won the first round of the Tory leadership contest, garnering the support of 114 out of 313 Conservative MPs.
