CDC director announces restructuring

United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Rochelle Walensky revealed on Wednesday that the agency will make organizational and procedural changes, especially at higher levels of the CDC.

The proposals include those that are expected to increase the speed of data releases, transform CDC's communications operations and make public health guidance easier to find on the agency's website. Mary Wakefield, the deputy secretary at the Department of Health and Human Services in the Obama administration, will oversee the restructuring process.

The CDC currently operates with a $12 billion budget and has over 10,000 employees.
