CDC to tighten its testing requirements

The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is preparing to impose stricter testing requirements for international travelers to stop the spread of the new Omicron variant of COVID-19, The Washington Post reported.

The new guidelines would require all air travelers to take a negative test one day before boarding their flights. "This strengthens already robust protocols in place for international travel, including requirements for foreign travelers to be fully vaccinated," the agency said.

The move comes as part of the Biden administration's strategy to fight the new virus strain that could be more contagious.
