China: Economy better in March than in first two months
China's new Premier Li Qiang (pictured) said on Thursday that the country's economy performed better in March compared to the first two months of 2023, underlining that consumption and investments improved, while employment and prices were stable.
Delivering the keynote speech in Hainan at the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2023, Li said that the country will stay committed to reforms and opening up regardless of the global situation, introducing new measures to increase market access and improve the business climate.
Li urged Asian countries to cooperate to create an "anchor" for world peace, which is the "prerequisite for development." Bloc confrontation should be rejected, while disputes should be resolved through peaceful means, according to the Chinese official, who also called for keeping global supply chains stable and liberalizing and facilitating global trade.
