China, Honduras establish official diplomatic relations

China and Honduras established on Sunday diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level after Honduras decided to cut ties with Taiwan. "This is the right choice that is in line with the prevailing trend and supported by the people. China highly appreciates that," a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said.

"The two governments agreed to develop friendly relations on the principles of mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, non-aggression, non-interference in each other's internal affairs, equality and mutual benefit, and peaceful coexistence," Global Times reported after the meeting of Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang and Honduran Foreign Minister Eduardo Enrique Reina.
