China: India's app ban violates WTO rules

India's decision to ban 59 Chinese apps potentially violates World Trade Organization rules, "abuses" national security legislation and damages international trade and e-commerce, the Embassy of China in India said in a statement on Tuesday.

The diplomatic mission called on India to change its decision and enhance economic cooperation between the countries. China stressed that India's decision mainly damages its own economy as many jobs in India depend on Chinese apps.

Earlier, TikTok, which is on the list of banned apps, said it never shared user data with the government in Beijing after India expressed security concerns. The China-India spat comes amid territorial tensions in Ladakh.
