China Manufacturing PMI at 51.8 in November

Caixin China General Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) stood at 51.8 in November, representing a slight increase of 0.1 index points compared to October, according to a report by IHS Markit published on Monday. November's PMI figure beat the estimates while recording the rate of improvement in the manufacturing sector unseen in the last three years.

The report noted a jump in new businesses and positive movement in production. Employment was seen as stable in November, following a seven-months-long drop. Foreign demand grew for successive months for the first time since the beginning of last year.

Director of Macroeconomic Analysis at CEBM Group Zhengsheng Zhong said: "If trade negotiations between China and the US can progress in the next phase and business confidence can be repaired effectively, manufacturing production and investment is likely to see a solid improvement."
