China's Jilin province adds 2 COVID-19 cases

Two domestically transmitted cases of the COVID-19 were confirmed in China's northeastern Jilin Province, which is home to the city of Shulan where a coronavirus infection cluster was recently discovered and has so far registered 135 infections and two deaths, according to the country's National Health Commission (NHC).

Jilin recently tightened its citywide lockdown in order to contain the spread of the virus as the province overtook Hubei as China's epicenter of the outbreak.

The number of total infections recorded on the mainland stood at 82,971, increasing by 4 from yesterday's update, with two of those imported from abroad. On the other hand, 6 people were released from care during the course of the day, bringing the number of nationwide recoveries to 78,255, while the country's coronavirus death toll remained at 4,634, as no new fatalities were seen.
