China's trade surplus shrinks to $65.8B in May

The Chinese trade surplus declined in May, which disappointed market expectations, the country's General Administration of Customs said on Wednesday.

The figure landed at $65.8 billion to hit its lowest level since April last year, down compared to last month's trade balance of $90.2 billion.

The country's exports decreased by 7.5% in dollar terms on an annual basis, with imports dropping by 4.5%, both below analysts' projections.
